I have a 1 1/8to 1 3/8 pto adapter on the end of my pto shaft,how does it come off????

Are you sure it is a plain adapter and not an Over Running Coupler?
Either way it is probably held on with a roll pin through the shaft. You need a drift of the appropriate size...line up the holes and tap it out...

If it is an ORC, you will more than likely have to unscrew the grease zirks and then line up the hols in order to punch out the roll pin...
