I have been thinking about getting a pusher 6 blade fan. I think it would be handy for all the hogging i do in all that tall seedy grass. Do any of you have any experiance with pusher fans?

Pat,
The 6 bladed pusher came out as part of the heavy duty cooling system, I've operated mine for 5 years with no problems. I usually spray out the radiator at the same time I clean the mower when I finish the job. No problem, just keep it clean, I also don't miss the hot air from the engine blowing over me as you do when you have a conventional fan when it's about 90 out. Mike

In the early 50's we had to get a pusher fan for our 1950 8N. We had a one row corn picker and could not work the corn without it, entire front of the grill would quickly load up with corn leaves. It worked wonders, for some reason got no build up inside the radiator, we never took it off as it worked well in all weather, N's have more than ample cooling. Biggest drawback, no warm air on the operator in cold weather.

Not impressed with pusher fans: 1. It's not good in the summer to be pulling hot air off the engine and blowing it thru the radiator. 2. You'e still going to get debris in the radiator, but on the back side instead of the front. My $.02

I have been reading the archives, and i see a couple of people talking about junk getting on engine side of the rad. I really do not want it to build up on the engine side! It is bad enough now building up in front, but at least i can put screen there.

When using a dozer in condishions that had lot of seed stuff floating you could not run it unless you were pushing the air. I don't think you will have that much stuff come around the cowling and get in to the radiator. It did not on the dozer. Mark H.

It does make operating nicer Mark, also the rad core gets saved that way too. They put a honeycomb screen between the fan and rad to cut down on sandblasting of the rad core's fins.

Pat if this happens you can blow it out with an air hose and get right to the corners better than coming from the eng side if the rad has a fan shroud on it.

I have one on the 9N seemed to work good it pushes the air out the front. In the winter I liked the heat that comes back towards me in the Ferguson but during the summer it got nice and warm. Mark H.
