This sounds like one of those old mechanic's tales... And here is another. My first exposure to an N-series tractor was my brother's 9N with a dearborn loader. The cylenders leaked badly and sometimes it would take several cycles up and down to get the seals to seat again. An old welder I talked to said add brake fluid to the hydraulic fluid, and that would swell the seals up. I added, and it did, but everybody I told about it afterward said I had done the worst thing possible to the hydraulic system by adding the brake fluid (even though brakes are hydraulic, aren't they?). Shortly after adding the brake fluid, though, my brother sold his tractor, so I never saw if the quick fix was good or bad, or long-lasting for that mater. This past year I finally bought a 2N of my own. The 3 point hitch holds well, but when left several hours, the lift goes down. Accordingly, I am interested to see if your STP proposal meets with aproval from readers of this board. By the way, to reader's of this message, I don't recomend adding anything, brake fluid especially, to any part of your tractor, that isn't specifically called for by the manufacturer. Good Luck
