My rear blade seems to wonder left and right a little bit when I"m dragging,is that normal?I was wondering if those rear stablizer arms for the draw bar set up would help keep the back blade from wondering?

THE STABILIZER BAR KIT WORKS GREAT WITH BOX SCRAPPERS, MOWERS, BUSHHOGS, BUT ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST WHEN USING A GRADER BLADE OR BOOM POLE. THE KIT CAN BE PURCHASED FROM TRACTOR SUPPLY. YOU WILL NEED TO BOLT A MOUNT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE AXLE UNDER EACH FENDER. LONGER FENDER BOLTS MAY BE REQUIRED. THE STABILZER BARS RUN FROM THE MOUNT TO THE IMPLEMENT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY PICTURES OF THE COMPLETED ASSEMBLY.

Rusty; These are a Casted part. I don't think you could use angle iron due to it could bend and wear fast they are from the bottom 4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inch wide and 6 3/4 inches long. The holes for mounting the fenders thru are oblong and 4 7/8 inch on center. Alot of stress is put on this part and it should be of a harden type steel. Mark H.

My 9N only had a bracket on the left side, and the pin wasn't quite lined up with the lift arm anchor, so I made a new pair so I could use one on each side. That may be a good idea, but the lift arms can then only work at one spacing, and are difficult to hook up. I'm only using a sway bar on one side, and it works fine. I AM using a real sway bar, and not one of the lighter adjustable stay bars. I tried to bend a slight relief bend on the end to make it easier to align the pins. A 12# sledge on the 250# anvil couldn't do it without heat. You guys are bending them??? Amazing!!!

George; You have the real ones!! I have a set to you can't even drill a hole in them. I made a set of 2 X 3/8 steel and the first time I hooked my rear blade up and pulled some heavy snow with one it just folded. Now I have the good old ones made of real Harden Steel makes a big differents. Mark H.

Maybe i am lucky but i only have the right side bar and it has not bent in the 30 years of hard work i have done with it. I do not know how long my granfather farmed with only one. Now that i see that there are supposed to be bars on each side i will have to try to find an original bracket to go under my left fender mount.

My original Dearborn Utility Blade has only the right side designed (ie. lift pins long enough) to hook up to an anti-sway bar. The other side of the blade the lift pin is not long enough to accomodate a bar. I think the original intent was to have only one side hooked up. But would agree if you can hook up two go for it. Newer implements are designed with both pins the same length.
By the way; I learned about using anti-sway bars AFTER I ruined a perfectly good rear tractor tire with my bushhog.

I would not ruin a tire because i got the sway limiter chains short enough to not let any implement touch the tire. That is set so that the sway bar or bars do not have to be in to protect the tires.

I had one on the right side only and bent it when hoggin. local farmer told me to put it on the right when hoggin because of the torque of the bush hog. I did like he said and it bent the first time out. Now I use two and have had no trouble. I got my brackets and sway bars at TSC.

My grandfather told me to only use it when i hogged. I thought it was for torque, but have learned a lot since he started me out on that tractor at 13 years old. I use it now all the time for all the implements and it helps a lot, but i do see that another one would be better.
