Patrick, by chance is the PTO shaft the original size for an N or has it been replaced by a newer STD size? Possibly the cap is bottoming on the shaft? Just a thought. I haven't looked at mine at all to know.

check page 24 of your Master Parts catalog Models 9N,2N, 8N and NAA 1939 to 1953 part number 2N 726 Cap (power take off cover) looks different than the one you have no shoulder I would just use an "O" ring or rubber gasket

Maybe the sleeve is #9N-735-B {1.00" long}instead of #9N-735-A {0.88" long}.This would be about a 1/8" difference? Just a shot in the dark...DaBrow

What would be involved it changing out the sleeve? From looking at the books it looks like the sleeve would just pull out? Yes i know that would be too easy!

Patrick; Couldn't you just grind off some of the end that screws in to make it go in further? Mark H.

The red arrow shows the peice that the cap bottems out against do yours look like this? The only way i know to fix this is cut the pto cap threads shorter. I do not want to do that!

Welcome back home it must be fun to play! On my original cap on the 9N it fits flush with no gasket on it. Mark H.

Hey! It looks good now! Put a big O-Ring on it that will seal it. Mark H.
