After going through a half dozen 12 volt coils with different combinations of resistors which lasted anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours I think I found the right one. I'm using two ceramic resistors along with the balast on the dash and It's been working for over 20 hours and runs real good.

Front mount coils are what they are.

Maybe there is something with your wiring causing them to be junk. Is your tractor a 6 volt or 12 volt system? If 6 volt, did someone bypass the resistor? If 12 volt, is there enough resistance?

Ray..... .....If'n you were an ignition coil manufacturer, would the marketplace support enuff sales for 2 manufacturers to compete? do the math.

Who agrees that the square frontmount ignition coil is not as robust as ya'd like 'em to be.

But if'n yer having that much trubble, you didn't just happen to remove/bypass the infamous "ballast resistor" on the backside of the dashpanel in the mistaken notion that would make hotter sparkies so yer tractor would start eazier? did ja? ..... ...just a guess..... ...Dell

Although my latest coil has lasted a little longer than the last one since I put the ballast resistor back in line.

Like anything else, in manufacturing "Econmy of Scale" comes into play. Only Third World Cesspools will tackle low volume and therefor we get Sh--
