Greetings!

Grasping at straws here, as I'll probably end up having to do a full bearing replacement, but...
Is it possible to pull the pan and get to the rod bearing caps without pulling the tractor completely apart? I have what sounds like a minor rod knock when the motor gets up to full operating temp, and the oil pressure is low... thought maybe I could replace the bad one and wait on the rest...
What's a good web site to get rebuild parts from?

Thanks!

Regards;

A good source for reliable parts is on this Board. Try some of the suppliers on the parts link. You should not just replace one bad bearing. If you do, the new one, i.e. the tight one, will not get the proper oiling inasmuch as the oil pressure will force most of the oil out of the other looser, old bearings. I don't see why one couldn't replace all the rod bearings once the pan were taken down (Note the bearing size stamped on the underside of the insert). Remember, your knock when hot could be a bad rod bushing and not a rod bearing as you have surmised.

Thanks... so is that to say one CAN drop the pan with the rest of the tractor intact? yes.. if I were to do that, I guess it would be wise to replace all of the rod bearings... in regards to the rod bushing... is that to say that the small end of the rod has a replaceable bearing insert (bushing) as well...? I guess I was assuming big end due to the lower oil pressure... could be mains, too, I know...
Thanks, again!

Yep. The top of the rod has a brass bushing that houses a free floating piston pin. There is no oil channel to that bushing, but like on my N, that is the one that was knocking on mine, and not the rod bearing. I have read in the past on this Board of people just dropping the pan to replace the rod bearing inserts. Obviously, you have to split thetractor to do the mains. While you're in there, you may want to rebuild the oil pump. Luck.
