Posted message about a month ago about the hiccup problem I was having with my just completed renovation of my 54 NAA.Got a long message from Zane. Sure didn't want to take the the lift cover back off and skin up that pretty red paint. Oh well.Took the cylinder all apart. The seat for the check valve was damaged. Had to buy a 6" end mill to make repair.Removed .005-.007 enough to remove damaged edge.Deburred with stone cutter. Dropped a new 7/16 steel ball in and hit one time with punch and two pound hammer (pretty hard)to seat the new ball.Put it all back together and installed. Hiccups are gone.Makes me very very happy. No leak down with heavy load after 2 hours. I am very greatfull for the help I got from this board. Happy Easter to all. Pat,The boat guy.

Pat....Just finishing mine up ....Did you have a nylon/plastic ball or steel....Mine was plastic and it was eroded pretty bad ....I am replacing it with a steel ball ...I don't think the seat is bad from what I can tell ...I did not modify the seat in any way.....I am just wondering if I should try and seat the new steel ball the way you did....Thanks...Alan
