A friend of mines house was broke into last week. They took everything that wasn't tied down. It rained heavy the night before and the mud they tracked all thru the house reuined his carpet. Too top it all off they even took photos and videos of his kids.
This got me thinking about a security system for my house. I have neighbors about 300 ft away on both sides of me who keep a eye on things but I still would like a security system. I was wanting a simple one . Wireless type that would sound a alarm if someone opened a door or window. I was wondering if you guys knew of a good one and have had any experience with the wireless type security systems?
Thanks guys.

Ric-Ky I would suggest you put the control box as fare away from the doors as possible (note in a closet by a door) and not in a closet most people put it there and the crooks now this and set the alarm delay to 10 to 15 seconds sow the crooks cant look for it just sum recommendations I picked up sum ware good luck Rod MI

We've got a wireless security system on our home. We won it at the county fair several years ago. The deal was, they would give us the entire system plus installation, and we would have to subscribe to their monitoring service for two years. If anyone enters the home through the doors, several windows, or walks down the main hallway, the alarm goes off. Does it work, you bet! I set it off one day and it wasn't hardly 30 seconds and the alarm people were on the phone. I had to give them a code so they wouldn't send the police. If I hadn't answered they would've sent them. We also have a panic button on a remote keychain that when pushed, will send the police immediately. Yes...that works well too, I know. LOL. The service costs us $32 bucks a month. As a back-up we have a 125 pound Lab who doesn't care much for strangers. Especially when we're not home. There also might be a high powered weapon or two around the house. If you're interested I'll get you the name and model number of the system we have.

You might try www.10x.com. They are supposed to be pretty good. I can't speak from experience, my secuity system is a Win 97 and a 140 lb. Rott.
