Well I hate to even ask these questions. I know I'm probably gonna really get criticized but here they are anyway. For a really busy person who just wants to use his 9n and not be the major mechanic, does anyone know a good tractor mechanic in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to replace the clutch and brakes? Also, does anyone know about what would be a reasonable price to pay to have this done? Thanks!!!

A Ford New Holland shop just SW of Tulsa and just five miles from my house now has a shop rate of $60.00 per hour.

I wonder how many customers pat their mechanics on the back and say good job these days?

It seems that the days of quality workmanship are gone. If I pay $60.00/hr for hit-or-miss guesswork, I feel cheated. I don't mind paying for skill and expertise. I figure if I want to give my machine to someone to experiment on, I'll do it myself. That way I'm only out parts$$.

Mr. N, Mechanic,

How far would you be able to trailer the tractor for excellent service and an excellent price? No, it's not me, but perhaps I can help.

I live south of D/FW. I don't make a living as a mechanic, but I maybe able to help. I've got mine running good. A lot of help from the great people of this board, and years of my own mechanic experience. E-mail me by the link on this reply. DON TX

Don't know anyone in that area, but if you figure the labor at the flat rate hours given in the I&T manual you're looking at least 6 hours of solid labor plus parts for just the clutch and brakes. But, if the guy gets in there and finds you need a new ring gear and axle seals, it makes sense to get it all done at the same time.
