Hey R.M. I agree with MikeC. Deleting cookies is more of a security task than an efficiency task. If you don't have a firewall program (Zone Alarm or Black Ice), then you have no control over what web sites are writing to your hard drive in the form of cookies. Most cookies are good things, as they can store log-on info to allow you access to certain sites in a faster manner. If you've had your system for a while, and installed new programs and deleted files, then it may be time to degrag your hard drive. Windows includes a program called Disk Defragmenter that does this for you. Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter to run it. It will tell you how fragmented the files on your hard drive are and recommend whether it should be run or not. You can also set this up to be done automatically for you via the Windows Task Scheduler. It's a good thing that should be done on every PC periodically and can make a significant improvement in how fast files load and your system processes data. Caveat - I have years of experience with Windows 3.0, 3.1, 95, 98 and 2000, but have never seen ME, so some of these references may be named a little differently. Defrag (aka Speed Disk by Norton) has been around forever, so I'm assuming here that ole Uncle Bill also included them in ME. Good luck with it..... ..Ed '52 8N475798
