Russ..... .. Think about the way a front end loader is used. You ram into the pile, you lift 500# of load. You bounce over the rough ground with the load bouncing. Then think about what is commonally called the front axle "king pin". It carries all that weight. Think about your front axle bracket that you just about lost. Think about those skinny dropspindle front axles. Think about those skinny front tires. Then look at a modern front end loader on a modern tractor. Its on a substantial subframe and the front axles are helll for stout. Look at modern live high pressure high volume hydraulic system. Guess what? All that is a result of learning about the FEL use and abuse on your N-Tractor. Then think about when the front end loader became popularily available. 10 years AFTER the N-Tractor front end was designed. Now tell me that the N-Tractor's front end isn't potentially a weak link. Its a wonder they don't fall apart more readily. Yeah, I know that there are a lot of N-Tractors with FEL's out there, but most of 'em would confess that their N-Tractor FEL has its drawbacks, but if thats all you got, you dance with the one you brought..... ..... respectfully, Dell, Who doesn't have a FEL and if he needs FEL work, he eather rents a modern tractor designed for FEL, or he hires a modern backhoe outfit to do the job. N's are great tractors, they're just not the right tractor for every job.
