Hi all

I finally found a purchased a 1952 8N it's works great except the headlights are not hooked up. The wires are dry rotted and frayed I wouldn't want to hook these up the way they are. Is there a link to an 8N headlight diagram or will the 9N/2N that I found in an earlier post work? I hope to clean the tractor up and get S/N.

Welcome to the wonder world of N-Tractors. While they're not perfect, consider that they were designed for the horsefarmer over 65 yrs ago and they're still going strong. Great thing about N-Tractors, they work and you can entertain yourself studing over 400 implements were made to fit the cat-1 3-point hydraulic Ferguson System. Most N-parts are readily available and reasonably priced. And you can work on them yourself.

I would like to suggest that you seriously consider getting an I&T FO-4 maintenance manual. Available a many sponsors of this great N-Board. Most tractor parts emporiums, Amazon.com, www.n-news.com which has a tremendous archive of implement manuals too. Why even Ford/New Holland usually has copies available too. $29 cheap, get one and amaize yourself with newfound knowledge..... ....respectfully, Dell

Yes, Mike I've seen this I take it that since this drawing is for the 9N/2N that it is compatable with the 8N as well.

While Tylers pict-o-gram is very good and quite informative for the frontmount 2N/9N it is only semi-simular to the later sidemount 8N.

8N's have a modern generator/regulator scheme, 2N/9N's have 3rd brush generator and cutout relay. All very different.

The square frontmount ignition coil on 9N/2N/8N's use the infamous "ballast resistor" mounted on the backside of the dash panel and is quite different from the more common 6 volt round igniton can used in 8N's..... ...Dell
