Found a Woods L59 belly mower that was installed on a '47 2n. It's off the tractor and I was wondering if it will mount exactly the same on a '51 8n? I'm guessing everything is the same but not sure. Oh yeah, what would it be worth in good condition? Thanks,

I try to discourage anyone who will listen from buying a belly mower. Once you have installed that contraption, your once verastile tractor is reduced to being a mere lawnmower. Why not a 3pt rear mount? EZ on, EZ off, use your tractor for all kinds of things. Plus, the long belts that go from the PTO under the tractor wear out fast and are VERY spendy.

Well, I respect your comments about the belly mower. However, if the belt is not mis-adjusted, it will last quite a long time. Mine is going on four years with no really bad signs of wear. That said, if you try to bush hog with it, then yes, the belt will go fast. My $.02

Clint,

Maybe when you get a little older, you will understand that not everyone can turn their head around as well as you can to keep track of where the mower is. I don't consider it a contraption at all...it's a salvation for my many trees I mow around without injury. The offset 72" belly mower does an even better job. Who cares how versatile the tractor is? Just get another. I have 5 tractors that can mow, but prefer the 9N with the L-306. I wouldn't try to discourage anyone...they do a better job.

Should bolt right on. I have one on my 2n. YOu have to be careful on the alignment of the drive wheel on the PTO, so that the wheel is a little forward of the 2 break around pulleys or the belt will twist. My $.02
