Hydraulic draft control spring

My control spring plunger is frozen or rusted into the yoke on my NAA, and the spring is quite loose. The archives listed several instances of similar situations. It appears removing the hydraulic lift cover is about the only way to solve the problem. Even then, the plunger apparently is prone to break at the yoke even after heat is applied.
My hydraulics work perfect, other than this problem. Before I break something, and have to spend big money, could there be an external fix? What would happen if I took a large washer, or spacer, cut a slot in it the same width as the plunger. and slid it between the yoke and the spring? It might take two washers. or more, held together with JB Weld. If the washers were the same O.D. as the spring, I could spot weld them in place. Would this give me the desired effect of tightening the spring to the yoke?
Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your problem of the yoke freezing-up on the shaft is quite common.I have on occasion drilled small holes through the yoke just touching the shaft with the drill bit being careful not to damage the threads. Then you can use some PB Blaster in the holes - let it soak over knight . Works for me.
Good luck.

You can buy a hinged, split machinery bushing and try it. I'd prefer to try to get the yoke loose. If you are not using the 2N for plowing, I wouldn't worry about it.
