What are the recommended specifications for a 6V battery on an 8N. Will any 6V do?

Go to TSC or Quality Farm and County or similar store. They have charts to size the right 6V battery for your 8N. They should also make sure you get an AG battery, not a car battery. I have read from several sources that AG batteries are built more rugged than street batteries. Some folks say to go with the 8V batteries instead on the 6V batteries, but other folks will say 6V will always start your tractor on the coldest day if your electrical is clean and solid. I vote for the 6Volt, I have a 6V in mine, starts on the coldest Ohio Winter days.

If you have a front end loader on it make sure you can get it installed without having to remove the hood. I have this problem right now. Can't get the darn battery out for winter storage. Paul

Rusty..... ..Any current 6 volt battery that fits will be better that the original. Your battery seller should have tables of battery fitments

There have been major advances in battery construction in 60 yrs. That said, batterys are standardized for external size. And since I don't have the battery sizes memeorized, all I remember off the top of my head is, Chevy used a narrow long 6 volt battery and Ford used an almost square 6 volt battery. ..... ....Dell
