Recently bought an 8n to cut the yard. Next I bought a te 20 to rebuild. The idea is to rebuild the te 20. Then shut down the 8n and rebuild it. Now another n has come along with a bush hog. Since I need a bush hog anyway? Does anyone know where a good clinic is for tractor addiction? The funny thing is my wife. She was not happy about the second tractor but I bought it anyway. Now she is not happy about the third. Think I will buy it anyway.

Rusty, I only have one 8N so far, but I just started a couple of months ago. I think I got the fever right after I let the clutch out for the first time. I know I will have to have more so I gave my wife a set of 8N earrings I got on Ebay. Now she has one more 8N than me - I'm working on that.

Just don't say you'll get more work out of the tractor than her - even though we all know there's no comparison..... .

Sounds much like me!!! I bought 2 8N's last summer- one for parts, the other runs all for $2000. Just a few months ago, Got a heck of a deal on a 52 John Deere MT for $75 bucks. The only reason that the man parked it was for a bad rim and his knee surgury - couldn't climb up anymore. Took that one home, cleaned the carb, put on a new battery cable, jump started it right up.

I'm lucky, my wife is VERY understanding. I can't thank her enough for being so supportive and loving towards the relaxation I get from messing with these old tractors.

Did I mention, I've also got three old Gravely's that I'm fixing up also.

No, she asked me how much a backhoe attachment would cost.

That and too much "sasparilla" the night before. (hic)

First check the big doghouse in my back yard. I'm in it a lot. Just wish it was big enough for my 8N too.

If you can squeeze two or possibly three tractors out of your wife, consider having dual wives to increase your tractor lust from 2 or 3 to quite possibly 4 to 6...or even more.

The best part? Start your own N religion. Religiousize your lust for tracors, open a church (or barn) for N-lovers, marry a bunch of women like they do in other parts of the world and you're good to go.

And no taxes. The government can't tax a church.

ANd get this, all you have to do is marry more women to get more tractors, you get a tax free barn out of the deal, and you would be nothing but smiles because you would be in the barn all of the time working on em and praying that they would start everytime you need them.

ok, ok, it's a stretch, but maybe you can start with the barn part and tell your wife about building a barn and you're praying she will say yes.

Oh forgot to mention about the praying part...

I'm not sure if I am alone in this world, but, whenever my wife starts to talk, I pray for dvine intervention but more importantly, for divine understanding. If you marry a slewful of women to acquire more than a slewful of tractors, I suspect, many will come to your church praying just for you. Just pass the oil pan around and collect monies to keep those tractors working and capitalize on the sympathies.

We only have 3 right now. But I'd love to get the Ford Jubilee from my cousin to make an even 4.

Tyman,

Hope you get the Jub. BUT if you do, then you'd REALLY need to get an 8N to set between the 9N and Farmall to balance out the Jub and 600(?) on the other side. :-)

Then a Fordson on the outside next to the 9N and a ??? on the othe side to balance up again..... . LOL

My "plan" is to have one 8N for each year. But right now I'm a littl off the mark. I some how wound up with two '47s. Hummmm. Maybe I should change the plan to TWO for each year. OR since there were three distinctly different 8N's in 1950 - Front mount, side mount, & side mount with Proofmeter...?????
BIG GRIN

Regards,
Larry

I didn't known there was a limit to # of tractors allowed!!! Large building & move them around helps!!! How can you let one go or pass up another ford needing your help??? WOW think of the auction after you have gone to the big tractor yard in the sky. The whole thing starts with a farm - love of tractors back ground, then an auction, and you bring the first one home (in my case dad's tractor ), you get a little scratch on your finger & it gets infected with rust, grease, etc.,infection goes to the brain and the rest of the story appears here on the forum!!!!

Kinda like the story of the guy whose wife said he'd need to quit fishing all the time or she'd leave.....he said he's really gonna miss her.... I've also heard it said if you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much space....

I don't even go looking for them, they find me, kind of like stray animals.

Mike

They know I'll feed them, that must be it.

Maybe they have a network and some how my name got in it.
