Throttle rod / plate replacement questions

I have removed the lower bolt and nut on the bottom flange of the throttle rod. The rod will rotate but will not allow me to pull it up through so that I can remove the plate. Is there anything else I should be looking at? Do I need to remove anything else to get this rod to lift? How is it held down by the springs and what keeps the rod in place from sliding upwards normally?

Please advise and thanks!!! :-D

Andy, you have to remove the clamp bolt completely. The lever will not come off the end of the bolt unless it is all the way out. You may have to pry the lever slot open just a little and then spray some penetrant on the shaft above the spring and it's retainer etc and it will all come off the end of the shaft and the shaft will pull out the top.

I just replaced the ball in the end of my throttle friction thingy. I drilled a small hole above the ball and took a small punch and drove the old ball out then put the new ball in and gave it a tap to seat it. Then I put some JB weld in the hole I had drilled and camoflaged it with paint. It will hold now.

Where did you get the ball? Is it just a bearing of the right size or is there a correct part for this?

The guy I bought my tractor from explained to me how you have to stuff a twig under it to get it to stay!

Thanks,
Ken

Andy, I just removed mine. The clip the bolt runs thru comes off and the spring. Had to tap it off. Then the throttle rod comes out.HTH
