I noticed trans-hydr fluid leaking on left side of my 9-N. The bolts had worked lose. I tightened them, but it still leaks. The question is : Has anybody had experience of stopping such a leak without removing the whole axle housing and replacing the gasket? Thanks in advance for your advice. I really like this forum.

Plash..... .....NO, to fix the lower link leak, you have to take the rear axle trumpet off to get to the cotterkeyed castelated nut to tighten it to 150 ft/lbs. Soak your trumpet/diffy gasket in warm water for 15-30 mins..... ..... Dell

I had the same problem with my 9. Yup, gotta tear the case apart. It's not a real tought thing to do. Jack the tractor up just so the weight is taken off that side. That way when you break the case loose, you will be able to just slide the whole thing. Obviousely it is pretty heavy, so you might need some help to balance it.
