Very early this morning i decided to drive the 165 miles to where my tractor is. I was just out attempting to switch my fan from a pull to a pusher. I can not get the old fan to come out. Is this what you guys have experianced? looks like i got to take off the water pump or the hood so that i can lean radiator forward. I am thinking about going the hood way since i hate coolant so much!

Pat,
Were you aware that for the heavy duty cooling system with the 6 bladed fan, the tractor also had a larger capacity radiator? You won't gain as much as you might think just changing the fan out. The thermostat is a good idea as well and when I put mine back together I added a temp gauge, I just cannot get comfortable operating any piece of equipment with out one. Good luck.

The hood way is one way. You need to remove the shroud from the radiator. You can't remove the shroud withou removing the hood or at least the front side sections of it. You will need to remove the steering wheel to get the hood off. And, oh yeah, THE HOOD IS HEAVY.
You also may be able to remove it if you can get the water pump off. New gasket will be needed.

About 2 years ago i had hood off for body work. While that was off i gave it a new motor, water pump, rebuilt the whole front end, and replaced the 8n style steering wheel with the right kind. The more i think about it the more i am thinking about taking the water pump off. I want to add a thermostat to the upper hose also.

The fan blade can stick pretty good on the shaft. I would pull the radiator just in case you damage it removing the blade. You may need to be able to tap it to knock it free and it would be nice if you had a strait pull to remove it. Mark H.

I got it off but do not have room to slide it out.

Good point Mark! At the very least put a piece of cardboard between the radiator and the fan when you are trying to yank it off.
