I tried Mark Hendershot's suggestion of taking off the distributer and inserting a screwdriver on a drill with the hopes of getting oil pressure. I did that w. cordless drill 550 rpm's and nothing. I did get oil to come up a little where the drill bit was. I had it turning clockwise. I got my elec. drill 1250 rpm's. Still nothing. The oil did slosh out of the dist hole, but I looked for oil to be coming out on top where the valves are. No oil out the tubes. Could it be blocked somewhere or what??? The motor turns on its own also but not fast enough to do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

If the oil sloshes out the distributor hole when you turn the pump, the pump is primed and working. It will not build pressure with the distributor out for that same reason - the oil is all going down the hole and back to the crankcase. It also will not pump oil up to the top for the lifters unless the camshaft is turning. The top side supply oil comes through a cross drilled hole in the camshaft bearing diameter and only gives a shot of oil for each revolution of the cam. Put the distributor back in and fire it up. Chances are good that the oil pressure will be ok.

I have a Jubilee oil pump that is good just in case. If you have the pan off or going to in the near future you could check it outside of the engine to see if it is working. Other then that I don't know what to say. Mark

When I had the pump off some time ago it looked bright and clean and tight. Not too much sludge in pan. When I use the drill I could tell that some oil was rising in the dist. hole, which indicates that there is a little oil being pumped. Could it be that the oil lines are blocked? I will try blowing air into several of the lines tomorrow. If'n I determine that the pump isn't working I may give you a call.
Maybe we can trade for some trac o lites. Just a thought. Thanks I'll let you know what happens.

as always; thanks. oslo in NC
