Just an FYI for those of you tractor shopping.

We looked at an 8N for $2,200. It had a 9N SN, and a lot of blow by and smoke. Valve train didn't sound so good either. Had brand new tires. 3pt parts had been welded on quite a bit. No bumper, had one good stabilizer mount, the other was butchered. Lift and PTO worked great and had a Sherman step up.

I kinda got the same thought , but once you think about it , what better way could you go out ? Doing something you love to do on a machine that is almost as old as you , spent years keepen her going top notch , I wonder if old St Peater dont need a plot or two plowed up by the old N , I think Ill ask him when I get there. Hope it aint for along time yet .

"Buying the farm" is a term that was used back during WWI. Apparently, soldier's, widder wemmin got a settlement if their husband died in action. Most of the people lived on farms so the money was used to pay off the mortgage. Got that item off the tv some months ago.

I guess I didn't realize how that subject could be interpreted.
