Just wondering if anyone on this board knows about wiring electric trailer brakes. I am in the process of rewiring my car hauler to take my 8N for a ride. The magnets have two wires coming from them. What I was wondering is are they both hot or is one hot and one ground. They are both the same color wires so no indication there. I read on the net that you should run the ground all the way to the tow vehicle instead of grounding it on the trailer. This would tell me that one is ground but which one? Any ideas?

One is + (hot) and one is - (ground)
the choice is yours as to which is which.
It doesn't matter as long as you have one of each.

Use either for ground. It is a simple electromagnet, with a dc current going through a coil wrapped around an iron core. each wire corresponds to one end of the coil wrappings. At least that's how mine works.
You might want to run the ground right to the tow vehicle AND individual grounds to the trailer frame, in case your ground wire brakes it'll still work. Do you have a breakaway setup with a battery and charger or solar cell? THat's pretty much required nowadays..
