Need some help. Just bought a 1947 8N. It is missing the oil indicator (dip stick). It looks to me like there may be another part damaged or missing. The tube that the dip stick goes into is very short. (1/2") Oil splashes out of it unless I plug it. Is this the normal length? I have ordered but have not recieved manuals and sold my last N 11 years ago and cannot remember what the length of this tube should be. Is there anything online that offers images? I could not find anything online with keywords "Oil indicator tube" or "dip stick tube."

Thanks for the help!

Mine does the same thing with the dipstick. Oil splashes out and leaks down around the tube. Was wonering if an o-ring was missing from the dipstick.

New Holland (Ford) still sells both, if your local dealer can't help you our dealership can.

You definetly need a dip stick in there or oil splashes out. John Smith had an original one for sale. I haven't checked in a couple days. An aftermarket one is available at the great suppliers advertising on this board.
