Yesterday N.W. Il. & Central Ia. Today South Central Ne. South of the S. Platte under the big bend. Heading west and south. Tomorrow North Central Kansas (that's my stomping grounds, g r r r r r)? North Western Kansas? Bombs are planted in the mailbox and triggered when box is opened. Watch for mail guy and shag your tush down their to get your mail. If mailbox unattended for long time then beware. Watch for the loon out there! You know, strange cars stopping at mailboxes like that. Good luck and be safe.

A friend of mine told about catching one of those fallow cats ( you know one that dont like folks much ) Put him in a mailbox for a few hours to get him good and hot under the collar , along comes Mr Mailman SUPRISE, kind of funny, but a pipe bomb is not, lets keep our eye out and catch this sick person, im going to leave my mailbox door open so the very nice lady that delivers my mail will not be frightened .

Tomorrow's Sunday so no mail delivery. Anyone stopped at a mailbox is someone to watch. If they don't drive up the lane and stop at the house then get their license number, color car, make, model, etc. Might be nothing but it might be the lugnut.

Sorry, got my days mixed up. That's good advice, to bad I can't see our mail box(it's hidden behind a hill) but I will still be careful when I open it, even though I'm in NC. But you never know, better safe than sorry. TractorMike

Maybe some people in these areas, (with the time), can start staking-out their mailboxes and spot this jerk in action. Cops can't be everywhere, and maybe some citizens can get a description of suspicious persons/cars. Just a thought.

They just arrested a city cop down here for putting two in the road. He "discovered" the first one and was in the limelight for a day or two. Then he and the chief found the second one. A month later he was in jail. The FBI got him on video tape buying some of the pipe at a local hardware place. Can't trust nobody these days. Except my N friends.

The reports here in Iowa suggest that the bombs go off not when the mailbox is opened, but when the pipe bomb is moved or jarred. Look for a pipe with a 9V battery attached. After yesterday's reports, we left the mailbox door open for our carrier and will continue until....
