9N Serial Number

I have a 9N with Serial No. 9N 210627 stamped on the block.

The I&T Shop Manual shows the last series of numbers in 1943 beginning with 88934. With approximately 100,000 9N's produced, my serial number couldn't possibly fit in this range.

The manual shows a 210 number to be in the 2N or 8N parameters.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for bringing this up. For three months now I've been refering to my "new" N as a 1940 9N. I had no idea that all 2N's still used the "*9N" in the serial number. I guess I just ignored that sixth number after the "*9N" and labeled it a 1940 9N. I kept mumbling to my wife about wondering why this 9N had the riveted hubs and the oval tube radius rods and the little "2N" under the "Ford" script on the front emblem. Now I know for certain that it is in fact a 1946 2N Serial number *9N206055*.

Hey Mitch,
Since you obviously had your heart set on a '40 9N, you must be willing to get rid of that "new-fangled" machine pretty cheap. I always wanted one exactly twenty years older than I am. Well, maybe it's ten years..... .or is it.....?

Pay attention to the explanation about the 9N/2N model changeover in 1942.
