Looking for the forum users feedback on the 3 point scoop and dumps that are available. Thought it might be a nice birthday/father's day gift for my dad. Are they worth the $200?

My thoughts are he could use it for picking rocks without having to get off of the tractor. Just scoop them up and dump them out of the way. He's also working on moving some dirt and gravel for a pole shed and thought with a scoop and dump along with the blade we already have, we'd maybe able to make light work out of it.

Specifically, I'm considering the king kutter model that is supposed to work in both forward and reverse.

Again, your feedback & input would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Say! Just a quick note, Fleet Farm has the 30" King Kutter on sale this week. I bought one.
Have fun.

That's what started by thinker. I saw them in their ad for $189.99. You know how some of the central minnesota hills grow rocks better than they do grass or corn. Use it as a rock picker and carry all. At least we won't have to handle the rocks twice.

Not to be nosey...
Where abouts in central MN are you?
I grew up in Aitkin. Still have a little piece up there. Was hoping to get up there this weekend but with all the rain we're getting it doesn't look like it'll be much fun for either fishing or discing up my little patch this weekend. I live in Mpls now.

Ultradog - I've seen your frequent contributions and wondered the same. I've lived in Owatonna since 1990 and grew up in the Willmar/Spicer/New London area.

Aitkin area I know a little. Spent a few deer hunting seasons down by Glen and Long Lake /Dam Lake areas. Lot of fun and memories. Used to hunt by an abandoned boy scout camp along the north shore of long lake.

Thanks for your input on the forum. Always great to see local representation.

Just used my new KingKutter reversible scoop for the first time last weekend. I picked it up at Quality's going out of business sale last fall for $130. What a great addition to the yard and farm arsenal. You will be son of the year for this gift. I would easily give full price for one of these.

A poor man's loader, but worth every penny. Moves rocks, digs ditches, hauls dirt, serves as a carry all. A great tool.

Two things-make sure it is reversable, and, in my opinion, try to find one with the latch itself on the scoop, not the frame. Makes for easier dumping.

Then see about adding a pulley on the top rail to run the rope through. Saves muscle power.

Go for it.

I put about 18" of old stabilizer arm on the dump latch of my scoop about a year ago. With the scoop facing back I can reach the dump handle from the seat, and it gives a lot more leverage on the rope with the scoop facing forward.

Hello 8n in mn..Yes they are worth $200. They are much fun to use.I gave $210 for mine a couple of years ago from a Ford New Holland dealer. He even threw in the rope for the dump.It will take a little tweeking to get it just like you want it.How much rope you want ,how you adjust the dump, a little grease here and there, and how fast you want it to sink up.Just remember that is not a Cat Trax loader.Go slow and have fun...WOW WHAT A WONDERFUL FATHERS DAY GIFT....R.M. I got a Ford 3 point scoop and it was front operated only and I thought it was the only thing to have, the only thing with it was to move a pile of sand or gravel, it was necessary to pull the sand or gravel away from the pile before picking it up. Just recently I got a chance to get a reversible scoop, and am happier than ever now using the scoop, I got mine off an 9N that had been used in a manure barn, my scoop has acid burns with small holes but still solid. It is also a Ford 706, I believe. works well. Stan

Do a search in the archives and you will see that alot of people have them and really like them. Some will tell you they would rather have the scoop on an N than a loader.
