Well I checked all over and the only place that I could find the bolt kit I need is FNH. Well bend over buddy $9.97 per bolt( takes twelve) does not include the nut. Book says to obtain castellated nut locally, at least I talked the guy into throwing them in for free. At least that was on the phone today I'll see when they come in on Fri.

Look around at real farm supply stores. One near me sells grade 8 hardware for $3.89 / lb.

If you have the size try a Caterpillar dealer if one is nearby. They are quite reasonable on hardened bolts.

Geez; I bought a set for my 601 for $1.74 ea. in My 2000. The part number was NAA44215A. The N's looks like they use 9N44125A. Better check another dealer.

Think I'd go back with rivets before going with bolts @ $120. Rob

Why exactly are you buying a dozen $10 bolts?
Takes a 7/16" x 1 1/2" Rose head rivet or .497"/.492" x 1.60" Rose head rivet.
Why are the replacement bolts so special?

Where do you get those rivits and what kind of equipment do you need to install them and how do you do it?

Use the ball end of your ballpeen hammer to peen a rivet. Rob nm

My NH dealer can order them in for 15 cents. I'm not sure if it's the 7/16 or the .497. I gave him both numbers and he gave me a price. FYI: 357147-S or 352150-S, Master parts cat shows both numbers for 1939-53. I think he said the other one is 17 cents. Hardware store may have 'em, I don't know. It's been awhile since I've shopped for rivets.
You have to get a big rivet hot to peen it. I would take my mapp gas torch and heat it redhot, stick it in there and peen away. It can be done with a ballpeen hammer. You can get a set for a better looking more uniform head but looks don't really count here. You get it redhot, insert it into the hole, place the head on a backup, and beat it til it spreads and gets tight. This is not high-tech. Fire, hammer...pretty basic stuff. Tie a red bandana 'round your neck, roll up your sleaves, and wail away! I might just take it to a blacksmith/machine shop and let them do it. A pro could prolly get it done in well under a $58 hour. Knowing how I like to do things (and get away without spending a lot of money) I'd likely try my hand at setting a rivet first.

OUCH! I hope there is a special lube on them. What is so special about them?
