I am in the process of rebuilding the govenor on my '50 8N. Question: I bought a new Needle Bearing and Dust Seal. How Do I remove the Tapered Pin in the Fork so I can pull out the Lever shaft to replace the bearing and dust seal? I tried to drive it out with a small punch with no luck. Any ideas?
Also the Lever Assembly #18190 is very loose on the Governor body. Is there anyway to tighten it up a little?

Hey Ric. Forum member Don Stewart wrote a really nice tutorial on rebuilding the governor. You can view it by clicking here.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

Thanks Ed,
I have Don's rebuilding info. saved. I read it twice before I took the governor off. I just didn't cover removing the tappered pin in the governor fork. Thanks.

Per IT Shop Manual:

Sect 58: "... remove the TAPERED pin (Fig FO61) drom the govenor fork..."

Be sure you are punching the small end.

I took the screwplug/oilline out of the back& used a drill bit for a punch. One tap & it came right out.
