Just looked at a friends 8n with trans troubles. The trans frequently sticks in two gears, Violently jumps out of gear (nasty bruise on forearm), shift pattern out of order, no reverse. the rearmost gear in trans. is wobbly loose. the only odd thing i can see are about four washers on shift rod just under the cover placed their by a "mechanic". He's in a tizzy , I dont know, best advise, how much for a transmission in southern Ohio area....Thanks, Ohio (Farmall) H.

Lotta things could be wrong. Somebody is gonna have to take that transmission apart and look inside. The symptoms sound like a lot of bearing wear and possibly something loose or broken inside as well. You are not likely to run across a good complete transmission cheap. I'd say take it apart, see what is wrong, and get back with Mark to see if he has the parts you need. With the symptoms you have, I would plan on replacing all of the bearing. They are not expensive.

I have a complete transmission set of gears and shafts if you need them. Email me and we can talk about it. Thanks, Mark H.

Checked my parts book and found that some of the transmission parts won't work on a 8N. The transmission is from a 53 Golden Jubilee and is complete but not all the parts are interchangeable. I would like to keep it together in one set and not break it up if you need it. Mark H.
