I have a good 2n which I refurbished top to bottom and front to back and now a neighbour is offering me an 8n for $1600 Cdn. The shet metal is rough, lots of oil leaks and he says it runs although he cant start it up for me. So what do you think boys should I go for it ? I guess that would be around $1100 US.

Old Fart, What year is it? Hows the rubber? Is the sheet metal fixable? Then you got to ask yourself how much work you want to do? and how much money you want to spend? No serously it don't sound like to bad of deal. We've been paying anywhere from $500 to $800 for non-running and basket case tractors. And as high as $2000 for mixed 9/8n tractors and not getting them. I don't think you'd get hurt they seam to keep going up in value. 25 years ago my dad used to buy them for $250 or $300 slap an overhaul in it and a paint job on it and sell for $850. But now you can't hardly touch a basket case tractor for that. Goodluck John

The price sounds ok, assuming it really does run. The question is, how bad do you want another project? That's what this one sounds like to me.
