How does it drive?

Hi Folks,

I finally got around to checking into my proofmeter to see why it doesn't work / if it can be fixed. When i took off the cable sheath I found no cable inside! Took off the meter and found it works if I spin a brass collar on the end where the cable attaches. I can't see how a cable would drive this though. I expected to see a square hole or something. Is this normal, and if not, how does it normally work?

Thanks,

Arne

The square end of the cable fits inside the brass collar. The inside of the that driven part matches up to the cable end.

Thanks BG,

That may be the root of the problem, the meter end didn't look as if it had a square hole. I guess I will order a cable anyway and see if I can fix it.

You can't see the square part inside there. But if you take a piece of square keystock the right size, you can insert it and tell if it's still square inside.
