Thank you.

Hi Roger. If the mounting bracket looks like this:
third party image

then you have an original Dearborn swinging drawbar. Grab that 1-inch diameter pin and turn it while pulling down. It has a drift pin cross-wise through it, that fits in a groove in the bracket. Turning it will find the gap that will allow the 1-inch diameter pin to drop down, allowing you to pull the drawbar out towards the rear of the tractor.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

PHILIP,
The pin is actually 1 1/8" dia., not 1".
They are available from Don b.
Part #8N 804, about $18.

Hi Phillip. You'll have to find one at a boneyard, Ebay auction, another 8N owner who doesn't want theirs, farm auction, etc. There is no place that I know of to find one new. You can put a "wanted" ad here on YT, the N-Newsletter, etc. If you are a machinist or know one, one could be made fairly easily I think.

Sorry that I could not be of more help on this.....Ed

Ed's right: make one. They're not hard to do. I made one from 1" round stock, cut to length with a hacksaw (whew!), drilled a hole for the pin, tapped in a tension pin, took my grinder and ground away the lower end to simulate the finger flanges. Prime and paint. I had a picture from John Smith's website back when he had one for sale, so I had some idea what they should look like. Works good so far. The biggest problem was the old spring in the mounting bracket. It was rusted beyond usefullness, so I had to find a new one to replace it.

Looks like that could be fabbed pretty easy with a piece of 1" round stock and a roll pin.

Roger, the pin should have a wire clip on the top. Just pull it and wiggle the drawbar and it should fall out. If this is on an 8n the swinging drawbar rest across the 3pt. drawbar. Sorry I don't have a picture John

If it's the old style, it has a keyed toggle that you have to push up and twist. The 9/2 didn't have the holes to mount the front bracket.
