Has anyone thought about tapping in to your intake manifold and running a tube to the oil filler neck to try and stop the moisture build up????? Any ideas??? 1951 8n Greg Montana

Greg I put a PCV on my 8N and have operated it for over 40 hours mowing and discing. It runs fine and I have eliminated the formation of water vapor in the oil filler tube. The oil stays cleaner, fourty plus hours and still clear. By the way I use 20/50 Chevron oil. Oil pressure is 18psi when hot (after two hours of discing) and 40psi when cold. I also used "PVC" insted of PCV when I posted my idea on the forum and was justly corrected. Contact me by E-mail and I will give you the details and a list of the parts I used. Hi Greg,

Since everyone understood your question this is a minor point. But what you are referring to is PCV(Positive Crankcase Ventilation), not PVC which is the acronym for a type of plastic(PolyVinylChloride)...Al English

I put a new breather cap on there and the moisture problem disappeared.

The N powered Govt surplus generator I bought has a collar fastened to the rear valve cover with a baffle inside. A flex tube goes to the air cleaner tube which has a collar brazed to it. No PVC valve in the line. It was done at the factory. This engine is goverened to run at 1800 RPM steady.

Do you have a thermostat in your tractor? Sounds like the engine is not getting up to working temperature.

Greg, do you really want to burn all that milky oil in your motor? There wouldn't be no tapping if your manifolds an oringinal, theres a pipe plug in it where they ran vaccum for milkers. This doesn't sound like a good idea to me, and I don't think it would help I've seen that build up on a lot of motors with pvc hooked up.
