My 1952 8N began to run rough. Then it quit running altogether. The carburetor was worn out so, we changed it. Still would'nt start. We changed the spark plugs. We held a screwdriver from the plug wire to chassis and got good fire. I cannot see any wet on the plugs so, I can't tell if I'm getting fuel. Please give me some advice on what to check next. Ray

Ray, have you checked to see if you've got gas in the tank? Not trying to be a smart-a$$ but I ran the battery down on my 52 one day until I discovered it was out of gas. Dumb me! Can you see gas in the sediment bowl? Have you checked the filter in the carb? If you're getting a good hot spark I would say it would be fuel related. I'm sure others will write with more things to check.

Yep, got gas in bowl and, could see it gurgling in bowl from tank when we first tried to fire it up. Thanks for such a quick response to my post.

So you have gas to the carb . But is the gas getting from the carb bowl ,through the main needle yalve --through the main jet(that little pipe that pokes up ) to the venturi ? This can plug up and shuy the whole thing down .

OK the plugs are wet. What kind of timing set-up do we have on this machine? Is there a timing chain? Gear? Where is it? Is there something I should know before I tear into it? Or what else could it be if not timing? Got fire, got gas and looks like I have compression. Ray
