A follow up to Dave2N's question; Has anyone ever actually installed a Step up/down in an N that had an existing step up? We obtained a step up/down unit that is in very good shape, at a very low price, would like to insatll it in the '47 2N with an existing step down. It has heleical cut gears, as do both Sherman's (the step up/down is out of a 600), and it appers that the mounts inside the torque tube are similar, will the holes for the lever match? shaft lengths be correct...? Thanks in advance, I really don't want to split the 2N now unless it's just a quick switch job, we are in the begining of showin', pullin' and paradin' season, so if it is a lot of rework, it'll wait, or not get done at all. Pete

The 3 speed Sherman is a direct bolt in replacement for your 2 speed EXCEPT for the shifter hole. You will have to drill a new one, the shifters are in different places.
