After woking on this baby for several weeks part time she cranked. You will not find this in the manual. Had to use a dremel tool to lengthen the slot in the distributor for timing adjustment. I'm sure there is some other problem that caused me to resort to this but a least she runs. Still a little rough but better than before.

I think you may have messed up by altering the slot. Slot is slightly off-center intentionally to prevent installing it 180 out of phase. Might be why it runs a bit rough. You may not be able to get it to time correctly now.
