Hi Philip. First, you need a place to store the digitized photos and scans. A lot of ISP's are providing a limited amount of storage space to subscribers these days. You cannot store them directly here on YT. So, after you scan a document or take a digital photo, you first upload them to your storage space mentioned above. You then need to obtain the address (URL) of the specific photo that you want to show here. You can display that photo on your browser (Internet Explorer or NetScape), click on the URL address to highlight it, and then copy it by pressing CONTROL+C or right-clicking your mouse and choosing Copy. Next, come over here to YT and Post a message. Add any text in the Comments: box and then tab down to the Optional Image URL: box and paste the URL address from your photo storage site. Your screen should look like this when you are ready to post:

third party image

That should do it. If you have any problems or need further help, just holler.

Hope this helps..... ..... Ed

Howdy Ed. You can capture any windows screen by pressing the Print Screen button, which will copy the entire contents of your screen to the clipboard, or ALT+Print Screen, which will only copy the "window of focus" (say a dialogue box with an error message in the middle of your screen). Once you have it on the clipboard, open your favorite graphics processing program (MS Paint, etc.), open a New document and then Paste that sucker in there and crop, edit, and save it.

Regards..... ..... Ed

Didn't the "Prt Scr" at one time go direct to your default printer? Am I thinking way back to DOS and Basic days?

It used to...we still have some surveying software here (circa 1981) that will only print using the print screen key.

First you need a place to put the photo on the Internet. If your ISP provides web hosting that might be the best place. If not, there are some free or cheap solutions available. Search for photo hosting or web space should get you there. I started using Big Village. Only 4 bucks a month with no limitations.
Once you have a site established that allows linking, in the Optional Image URL at the bottom of the page you can put the URL of the image you want to put in your post. If you know a little HTML code you can code it into the comments section.

Well glen, to know how to get pictures on this message board, one has to understand a little about the internet. I understand a little so lets see if I can help.

For pictures to be displayed here, they have to be accessible via the internet. To be accesible via the internet, the image has to have a URL (uniform resourse locator) or web address. To have a URL, the photo must exist on a server connected to the internet.

Your computer most likely is not a server connected to the internet.

First you will need to scan the picture and save it on your hard drive. Then you will need to upload it to the server. Most of our ISPs (Internet Service Providers) allot space on their server for clients to use for this purpose. If not there are services, such as onebigvillage.com that do so for a small monthly fee. After uploading, you will need to get the image's URL and place it in the "optional Image URL" box below.

For instance, I have an image uploaded to our company's website. Its URL is "http://www.e-varga.com/tractorpics/cartman's%20N.JPG"

third party image

Now I have linked the URL to this message and you can see the image.

A little hard to do the first time but you will get the hang of it.

Well glen, based on your e-mail address, I see you ae a shentel customer.

I had a second so I went to their website and found out that

"** Included with every account, except Lite Access, is 5 MB of web space for your Home Page at no charge. This space is intended for personal use only. Please ask for a copy of our Personal Web Site Storage Agreement to sign up for this space."

So, unless you have the "lite" account, you have space on your ISP to place pictures.

I recomend you contact shentel and ask them how to upload your pics to their server. If you are paying for that service every month, you might as well use it.
