I have a 1946 2N and I am trying to get my dad to get a set of halftracks for it. We have sunk it up to the oil pan a few times. I was wondering how these things mount to a tractor. Would I need to alter anything on the origanal. How will these effect the sterring and opertion of the tractor. Will the three point hitch still work. Any other information would be great. About how much do these things cost. I'm in Northcentral Ohio.

Hi Andrew. There were at least two manufacturers of half-track setups for N's, Arps and Bombardier. Here is a pic of a YT forum member's tractor (sorry, can't remember whose) with the Arps setup:

Here's a pic of a '47 8N, owned by Dale Weisel, with a set of restored Bombardiers on it:

If you find a set of Arps, which seem to be more common, be sure to get the correct axle adapters for a Ford N, which is model ARP-H61B. If you get the Arps model, I have an owner's manual and axle adapter instructions that I can email you.

Good luck in finding a set for your Dad.

Regards..... ..... Ed

They will affect your steering , you may have to brake more , also widen your wheel tread . There are basically two kinds , both very similar , one was made by Arps , the other I should know , but can't remember right now . They will turn a Fergie or an N into a go anywhere , but don't ever get it stuck machine

the ones in the classifieds are for two sets. $900 asking for both sets. Did archive search and at least one photo came up and many references typed in "half tracks".

There is a set on e-bay right now. Other than that I know nothing about half tracks.
