Fessman, I just did mine so I know those springs can be a bear. What I did was to put the shoes on the workbench and installed the adjuster and spring. I then put the shoes around the axle and on the backing plate. I then installed the two other springs on the left side and the one other one on the right side. I used a big pair of pliers and a lot of strength but it worked for me. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mark, I figure it's worth the extra time and money to do it right so hopefully I'll have a new/old tractor when I'm finished.

Greg,

Thanks, I'll try that, and see how it works. It looks like you did a complete restoration in your picture. Did you finish yet??

Just primed the engine - trans and rear axles yesterday. I hope to shoot the red this weekend. And yes, I went through just about everything. Should be a new/old tractor when I'm finished. Hope to have it up and running in a few weeks.

Greg,

Your suggestion did the trick. It tends to be frustrating when you have to juggle parts and springs. I used your suggestion, then used a length of wire, and some wood to stretch the other spring, then a screw driver to line up the spring and the "supports".

All back together, and now to change some fluids.

Good luck with your tractor, I'll be looking forward to seeing the photos.

Glad it worked for you Fessman. I'll be posting some more pictures as it progresses.
