Well rented a John Deerie for the weekend, wow, what a blast, sure got alot done. Got one with tracks and can't believe what this thing can do. All the power you need. Kinda makes me wonder about the N sittiN there watching. I wonder how good one of these things are with a post hole digger attached?

You dont want one on your manicured lawn, those wheels work aginst each other and make a big mess of things, The fella that paved my drive last year turned around in the road a few times and messed up there chip and seal road , Said they would see him in Court if he didnt fix it, PRONTO.

Paul,
You’re right about skid steers, LOTS of fun and very handy around the homestead. I call mine a go-cart with a bucket.

I’ve got a ScatTrak brand, 1750lb capacity, w/ 66” bucket and 68HP Perkins. Snow removal, tree removal, fence building, etc the mobility can’t be beat. Yes, the attachments are spendy, but you can pick up a 3PT adapter plate from TSC and modify it to fit a skid steer for about $200.00. I use the back blade, box blade and York rake from my 9N whenever the space (IE between trees) isn’t large enough for the tractor to get in and out.

One major down side to skid steers is that it’s hard to do anything in a strait line. Plowing snow with the bucket is OK, but trying to use a 3Pt attachment designed to be pulled backwards just doesn’t cut it if you have a long way to go.

And you think your neck hurts after grading ½ mile of driveway with a N!

Paul the skid steers are nice little machines. 17 yrs ago a guy moved in beside us from the west. Amoung his belongoings was a Bobcat. Said he rented it out. I thought here where most people have 5 thumbs? Good luck. Well before long he had two rented out and did well with them. He now just has one and does jobs for people, with the bucket and post hole digger. $5 a hole min $100.
You need a good pickup and a trailer to haul it but could supplement your pension I think.
Later Bob

I keep thinking the same thing, then I look a what I need and what the attachments cost and see me on my tractors and renting a skid steer when I need one. Still the toy of my retirement dreams
Good Luck
Ron

LOL, yep its like buying a new truck, the cost of the truck isn't that much but when you go to putting on options it adds up quick.
