I just purchused a 8n and the previous owner said he had put new oil in the Hydrolics after rebuilding the pump. I was wondering what color the M2c-134d oil is .I pulled the dipstick and this oil is kind of purplish colored , is this about the color it should be or not. It looks real clean and not milky at all.

Replaced oil in mine a couple of months ago with the FNH dealer supplied 134d and it was light amber colored. Purple suggests automatic transmission fluid. Check it out.

I think that when I changed mine last year it was a very light amber color. Maybe different companies add slightly different dyes to their products.

You're right that different companies add different dyes to their oils. I remember a gear oil demonstration by a Schaeffer rep. This stuff was bright red. When we asked him about the color he just smiled and said "marketing".

PAUL,
THE MOBIL OIL I USE, MOBILFLUID 424 (134D SPEC), IS VERY CLEAR IN COLOR WITH A SLIGHT HONEY TINT. THE ONLY OIL I HAVE EVER SEEN THAT IS PURPLE IS A BRAND CALLED ROYAL PURPLE. CAN YOU ASK THE PREVIOUS OWNER?
PHILIP
