my 8n starts quickly, then begins to die when i let off on the starter button,if i continue to push the starter button,or repush it when it begins to die it regains rpms and runs,as soon as i let off the starter button it begins to die again help! thanks for any help. rowlett

If it wants to shut off the small wire with the large ring terminal is on the wrong large post of the solenoid. If it just misses or slows engine it could be bad wiring or connection.

If this was an old points car i would tell you to look at the ballast resistor. The old cars would bypass the resistor only when cranking, and switch to the resistor once the key was returned to the run position. This way you had full system voltage to the ign. system when cranking. But i do not belive your 8n is wired this way. I have a '44 2n so i am not sure. Hopefully someone will have a better answer.
