Looking to buy a PHD in the next week or two.

I don't expect to be using it every week but I want to buy one that will last and perform well.

Are there any specific things I should look for when buying a PHD? Any brands to stay away from?

TSC has a unit for $350 plus you buy the Auger seperately...$100 for a 9" or $115 for a 12"...Any advice on auger size?...the 9" should take care of 90% of the jobs I have.

Thanks.

-Sal

I have (My boss's)12" auger, I used it for all the holes for my pole barn and lean too, a 12"(For me) is a real handfull for my 8n, if you have alot of rocky soil be warned that the auger will sometimes cork screw into the ground, at this point being we have N series tractors, it's time to disconnect the driveshaft in order to remove the auger from the hole, this is "Fun" about the first 5 or 6 times then it grows real, real old !! LOL

I'm guessing a 9" auger might be more user friendly ???

later,dave

Sal,
I bought one from TSC a couple of years ago. Used it alot too on both my place and my neighbor's. No problems so far. TSC does carry replacement cutting blades for them also so make sure they have them in stock where ever you buy the auger. I have the 9" auger and like you said, it does most everything I've needed it to so far. Good luck.
