WHEN I HAUL MY 8N DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON A TRAILER I LEAVE THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. I USE A CHAIN FROM THE DRAWBAR TO BOTH REAR CORNERS, AND INDIVIDUAL 3" STRAPS FROM EACH AXLE TO THE FRONT CORNERS. WHAT IS THE CORRECT PROCEEDURE FOR THE TRANSMISSION? IN GEAR OR OUT? THANKS. PHILIP

I keep it in gear. This can put stress on the transmission, but if the tractor is chained properly to keep it from moving front to back, the stress shouldn't be much. Also, I chain the rear axles to the rear corners, rather than using the drawbar. Get too much up and down movement of the tractor when using the lower arms.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. I USE THE SWINGING DRAWBAR BRACKET UNDER THE AXLE HOUSING, NOT THE 11 HOLE BAR CONECTED TO THE LOWER LIFT ARMS. I THINK I WOULD FEEL BETTER IF I LEFT THE TRACTOR IN GEAR ALSO. PHILIP

In gear or chock the wheels.
I also use a ratchet strap from side to side over the transmission...
