I am hoping to find someone in the Dallas Tx area who has opened up an 8N for repairs so I could take a look at what is going on. I have a manual, but would like to actually see inside the pump area etc... btw, I live in Rockwall.

I'm no where near Dallas or even Texas but I did just tear into my 8N hydraulics. I was somewhat hesitant but with the help of this board and a FO4 manual it's a piece of cake.

Funny, I guess I am just working up the nerve myself. This board is a blessing for a city boy who got tired of the city and moved to the country. Like Thoreau said (sorta) I hope to one day make the earth say beans instead of grass...

I live in McKinney. I have never cracked open my 2N, but I have a very basic understanding of what is in there and would be happy to help, or just drink a beer and watch.

I'm always looking for an excuse to drink a beer.
I think the infamous "pin" is broken because my position control is not working, which is okay since I am not plowing anything (yet) and the lift works ok for mowing and stuff that I am doing now. So I don't really need to open it up yet. I am just working up the nerve to open it up at this point. Thanks for the offer to help. I'll keep you email address handy for when the big day comes. Are you doing any plowing?

I have not plowed, however I have a little cultivator I use to breakup the garden before I pull out the Troy-bilt. Saves several hours behind the tiller. I mainly use my 2N to move hay to the cows (on a buggy), mow (of course), and give my 3 yr old rides. Every now and then I will use it with the scoop to dig stuff and have a 3 pt spreader for grass seed or fertilizer.

Also, did you know there is a good sized tractor boneyard with lots of N's near McKinney?

Hmmmmm m..... ya don't say? ;-)

I bought a '51 8N to mow with, then I saw another one at Hensleys on 78, North of Wylie, and I bought it as restoration project because it is incredibly complete. All it needs is a lift arm and a paintjob. Do you think I could get a lift arm at the place you mentioned?
