Been reading this forum for about over a year. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I was using a landscape rake to move loose fill dirt. I had the rake rotated to push to the rear. When the tractor would go uphill, usually 35 to 45 degrees, it would stall out. Is this common? I even tried going back with no load, and it would still stall out. Is it because of gravity feed? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try going uphill forward? You might be right about the gravity feed. The pickup tube in the tank is about an inch & 1/2 long, and if the tank wasn't full, you might not have any fuel to pickup at a steep angle. Bob in NY

Sound like a carb. float problem.( Bend the float up just a hair ,not to much or it will start flooding on you.

Bob I'd take that one satep further & drain the tank & pull the flow valve & check the screen in there. If it's dirty then even less of an angle will shut you down. Just a thought. Good luck Sam.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I was at work when I posted. Had to come home and do some honey-dos. Tank was half full or better. Tried going forward, no problem unless I had a big load. Tractor has been great since I bought it. I had a problem with the battery going down. Kept reading the board. Replaced the battery before I read about the alternator belt. Yep, mine was loose. Trying to devise a bracket to use to tighten up the alternator. My tractor doesn't have one. Thanks guys, I'll keep trying.

Had a bunch of honey do's today too.
I have a 2N, and I put on a GM alternator.I put a bracket under a bolt on the governor, and hooked a heavy spring to it, and the other end to the alternator. Works reasonably well, but need to find a stronger spring. Bob in NY
