Has anyone converted an older (1944) 9N from 6 volt to 12 volts?? How difficult is it. Mine has the front mounted distributor and 3 wire generator. Any suggestions or instructions on how to do this?

Ray: I did my about 14 years ago and it works great. An old retired tractor shop man told me how to do it.All you got to do is install a 12/6 volt resistor in your line from your ignition switch to the coil. This will keep you from burning up your coil and anything ahead.Your starter will will be fine.Install your 12 volt battery positive ground like your old one.You will have to turn up the screw on the back of your generator in order to keep your 12 volt charged. It will charge it fine if everything is working right.Change your bulbs if you have lights...Easy and inexpensive. You can get the resistor from Napa or most any tractor parts store,5 to 10 dollars..Have fun..R.M.
