Sorry in advance that this is kind of long.
But, I wanted to give you all the info I could...

Has anyone heard of a Deordson brand tractor?

I am looking to purchase a tractor for mowing, snow plowing (in Wisconsin), bushhogging etc.

I recently ran across a Deordson tractor.
The seller says it is an English Ford from the '50's. But I thought those were Fordson's.
The seller also says it runs about 50hp (a bit large for my needs), but it is relatively cheap ($2500) compared to others I have found in the area. It's in reasonable shape, recently painted to hide the rust. But it looks like it was cleaned well before the paint job. There is some perforation on the rear fenders. But I can live with that if it works well and I can find parts and service.

My main problem is that it doesn't have a front hydraulic system. Again, the seller says I can add a Ford pump to the front to run a front loader. But, so far I haven't found another source to support his claim.

Several of the parts have ENFO, in the Ford stylized script, stamped on them. It has a 6 forward speed transmission (2 reverse Hi/Lo) in an H configuration. There appears to be 2 brake pedals on the right, which can be locked together. The clutch on the left. A manually controlled throttle and choke are mounted in the center. I think it has a 4 cyl engine with a side mounted distributor. (Some of the other posting indicated that was important?)

So, is this a Ford product?
Will I be able to find a hydraulic pump and front loader without paying and arm and a leg?
Should I keep looking?

Thanks for your help.
Another Newbie,
Paul

The Fordson was made in England up to the late 40's early 50's (?? don't have my reference book here). Then the Dexta came out (and Super Dexta) to replace the Fordson.

I'd bet it is a Dexta (maybe even Super Dexta) and the owner has just got the names confused and joined together. Check that out.

This is close to what I have been thinking.
I've also considered the ENFO that is stamped on several parts may be a contraction of ENglish FOrd

I did some digging around the web, before posting here, without a single hit. So I am still at a loss.

By the way, the Fjordson jokes are quite funny.
But I am serious about buying this tractor.

Would pictures help?
If so, what parts would identify this the clearest?

The tractor is stored 30+ miles from me, so it would take a day or two to get over there.
But, I could see about digging up a digital camera and web site to host some JPEGs.

Thanks again.
Paul

I checked Google with ENFO tractor and found the following link. Looks like you're on the right track.

HTH

Sorry the board software won't let me put the link in the opptional URL field. Keeps telling me my ad couldn't be added to the clasifieds??

Just go to Google.com enter ENFO tractor and look for the heading Help Identifying Tractor

I guess you're not allowed to post links to other tractor forums here - very annoying!!!

I know! I know!!!. It was the Fjordson, that rarest of rare Nowergian Fordson tractors. Someone must have messed up the name tag....

It was the result of the famous handshake agreement between Henrik Fjord and Harald Fjergusen, yah?

'deordson' comes up with absolutely NO hits on any search engine I have tried.

I have never had that happen before...NEVER.

My guess is that the seller has no idea what he has...

I agree with Salmoneye,

I searched all of the major search engines in the UK, since Paul referenced the English Ford. None, nothing....
