I wouldn't....calcium chloride is a highly soluble salt and therefore, highly corrosive. It can be disolved in water to it's saturation point of 11.6 pounds per gallon. Water, at 8.34 pounds per gallon, with antifreeze added, would be much more friendly to your wheels. Your call....

Rowlett..... ....unless you absolutely need the added weight for traction, most go barefooted. And if you really need the added water weight, suggest you consider some automotive anti-freeze instead of Calcium Chloride.

I'm sure you're aware of the corrosive nature of CaCl while auto-anti-freeze is kind to rubber and steel wheels. If you have pets, be advised, sweet anti-freeze is deadly to dogs, try RV toilet anti-freeze instead.

You don't need anti-freeze protection down to minus 30 degs, just down to about 10-15 degs is good enuff as frozen water will just slush up and still slosh around the rubber tire and not hurt anything..... ....Dell

Do tire tubes last OK with regular prestone type antifreeze in them? And how much does a 50-50 mix of water and antifreeze weigh per gallon?

I think I can get as much used antifreeze as I want and am considering loading the tires in my recently purchased 851. It looks like the back wheels have been replaced and I would just as soon not rust them up, but I need more traction.

Hal..... ...off'n top of my head 50/50 anti-freeze probably about 9#/gal, and since you can get about 23-5 gals of fluid in your rear tires, thats about 200-250 lbs as opposed to about 350# with CaCl. I think I drain over 30 gals outta my 14.9-24's and I am running barefoot but I mostly do brushoggin'.

And yes, anti-freeze if very kind to rubber and iron and used anti-freeze works just fine because the biggest wear item in anti-freeze is the waterpump lube and anti-rust chemicals for the engine block..... ....Dell
